Suman first got into the jewelry industry because she realized many people were being misled about diamonds – particularly the quality of the diamonds they were purchasing.
To this day it remains of paramount importance to Suman that consumers get the 'straight goods.' Diamonds are a high value product; buyers often work for months to earn the money to buy diamonds – and are then frequently misled when they make their purchases. Like everyone else, Suman wouldn't want to be misled and – as a result – she refuses to mislead others.
Unfortunately, Suman has often been in positions where she was forced to advise her clients that the diamonds they bought elsewhere were not the quality they had expected – and she backed up that bad news with independent testing.

We normally take four weeks to craft a piece of jewelry once we've finished the design. However, that can prove to be a luxury for some – particularly when they are facing hard deadlines like weddings or corporate meetings. When there is a genuine rush, we can often cut our fabrication time in half.
Some of our clients have busy schedules and can't schedule a meeting with us at our studio. In cases like that, we're completely willing to appointments in the evening anywhere in the Greater Vancouver Area. In fact, we're willing to travel anywhere in the world for a consultation.

We're able to shave our prices because we don't pay expensive rent for a storefront in a mall and we don't maintain a large, expensive stock of ready-made jewelry.
We discuss all our prices with you before we began any work. You will understand the price you will pay and the reason for that price up front. If you are not entirely satisfied that you are getting good value, we will refer you to other shops that may be more suitable.

Lux Jewels has Roots in Vancouver BC
Suman's grandparents immigrated to Canada from India in the early 1900's and settled in Williams Lake. Her grandfather worked on the construction of the first bridges built in Vancouver BC. Her own parents immigrated to Canada 1967 and planned to move to Williams Lake to join their extended family there. However, due to unforeseen events, they never traveled beyond Vancouver BC where Suman was born.
As a young girl Suman was a tomboy; she loved climbing trees! She never planned to work in the jewelry industry and never wore jewelry herself. She studied advertising and marketing at BCIT and later worked with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. It was here – with the Orchestra – that she developed her passion for the arts. That passion which she developed in her 20s led her to study diamonds, precious metals, and art jewelry. As one thing led to another – as it does for so many of us – she founded Lux Jewels in Vancouver BC 4 years ago and has enjoyed watching it grow year after year.

Lux Jewels Gives Back to Vancouver BC Charities
Suman not only has a passion for the arts that translates into outstanding jewelry. She is also eager to support the Vancouver BC community. Over the past few years she has donated to the Rare Disease Foundation, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, the Vancouver Symphony, and the Surrey Food Bank. She has also contributed substantially to the Diamond Race in honour of her mother who recently passed away from cancer. The proceeds from The Diamond Race go to cancer research and extending the lives of children with rare diseases. Suman believes all children should have an opportunity to live long and healthy lives.
