A men's wedding band is a ring built for everyday wear, so the big choices are metal (14k or 18k gold, platinum), width, profile, and finish. Most men's bands are 4mm to 7mm, often comfort-fit for all-day wear, and plain, though a flush-set lab grown diamond adds a subtle detail without snagging. At Lux Jewels we custom-design men's wedding bands in repurposed gold and platinum across Canada and the USA, built to last and priced fairly, with any diamond set certified by IGI or GIA.

What metal should a men's wedding band be?
Metal sets the colour, the weight, the price, and how the ring ages, so it's the first choice to make.
14k gold is the everyday workhorse: harder than 18k, so it resists scratches better, and more affordable, in yellow, white, or rose. 18k gold gives a richer colour and a heavier, more premium feel, a little softer. Platinum is naturally white, dense, and hypoallergenic; it doesn't need rhodium plating like white gold and develops a soft patina many men like, but it's the heaviest and priciest. All the gold I use is repurposed gold, previously refined rather than freshly mined.

What width and profile work best?
Men's bands usually run 4mm to 7mm. Narrower (4mm to 5mm) feels lighter and modern; wider (6mm to 7mm) makes a stronger statement and suits larger hands. The profile matters too: a comfort-fit band is slightly domed on the inside so it slides on easily and wears comfortably all day, which is what I recommend for anything 6mm or wider.
If you work with your hands, a slightly narrower band in a harder metal with a finish that hides wear is the practical choice. On a free call I'll help you balance the look you want with how you actually use your hands.
Which finish suits you?
The finish changes the whole character of the band. A polished finish is classic and bright but shows scratches more. A brushed or matte finish has a modern, understated look and hides daily wear well, which is why it's so popular for men. A hammered or textured finish adds character and also disguises scratches.
You can also mix finishes, like a matte centre with polished bevelled edges, for a two-tone effect. Every finish is done by hand on your band, and if it ever needs refreshing years down the line, that's an easy fix.

Should a men's band have a diamond?
Most men's bands are plain, but a subtle stone is an option. Here's how the choices compare.
A clean band in your metal and finish. Timeless and tough.
A single lab grown diamond set level with the band so it never snags.
Domed inside for easy, all-day wear.
Previously refined gold, not freshly mined.
Any diamond I set is a real, certified lab grown stone with no inflated mined-diamond markup, so a detail like that stays affordable.

How do you choose the right men's band?
Start with how you live. If you're hard on your hands, I'll steer you toward a harder metal, a comfort-fit profile, and a brushed finish that hides wear. Then it's about the look: width and finish do most of the work on a men's band, and a flush-set diamond is there if you want a quiet detail. Sizing matters more than people think, since a band worn daily should fit the warmest part of your day when fingers are largest.
I'm Suman Smith, founder of Lux Jewels. I started this as Canada's first lab grown diamond company back in 2015. I don't upsell. What I do is help you choose a band you'll actually be happy wearing in thirty years, built right in repurposed gold or platinum and priced fairly. Any diamond I set comes certified, so you're never taking my word for it.
How much should a men's wedding band cost?
It comes down to metal, width, and whether there's a diamond. A plain 14k gold band costs less than a wide platinum one, simply because of the metal. Adding a flush-set lab grown diamond is affordable because there's no mined-diamond markup. There's no rule about what to spend; the right band is one you'll wear comfortably for decades.
I don't believe in vague "starting from" numbers, because the metal and width move the price. Book a free consultation and you'll get a straight, itemised quote for the exact band you want, with no pressure to spend a dollar more than makes sense for you.

What is the best metal for a men's wedding band?
14k gold is the popular everyday choice, harder than 18k and more affordable. 18k gold is richer and heavier. Platinum is naturally white, dense, and hypoallergenic but the priciest. All our gold is repurposed gold. The best metal depends on your budget, colour, and how hard you are on your hands.
What width should a men's wedding band be?
Most men's bands are 4mm to 7mm. Narrower feels lighter and modern; wider makes a bolder statement and suits larger hands. For anything 6mm or wider, a comfort-fit profile makes it easy to wear all day.
What is a comfort-fit wedding band?
A comfort-fit band is slightly domed on the inside so it glides over the knuckle and sits comfortably all day. It's well worth it on wider men's bands, which can otherwise feel stiff.
Can a men's wedding band have a diamond?
Yes. The usual approach is a single lab grown diamond flush-set level with the band so it adds a subtle detail without snagging. Because it's lab grown there's no mined-diamond markup, so it stays affordable.
Where can I buy a men's wedding band in Canada?
Lux Jewels custom-designs men's wedding bands in repurposed gold and platinum for clients across Canada and the USA, by appointment and virtual consultation. As Canada's first lab grown diamond jeweller since 2015, any diamond we set is certified by IGI or GIA.
