Quick Answer

An eternity ring is a band set with a continuous line of diamonds, either all the way around (full eternity) or across the top half (half eternity). The unbroken circle of stones stands for never-ending love, which is why it's chosen for engagements, weddings, and milestone anniversaries. At Lux Jewels we custom-design eternity rings with real, certified lab grown diamonds across Canada and the USA, IGI or GIA certified, with no inflated mined-diamond markup, so a band full of diamonds costs far less than the mined equivalent.

A Circle With No End

What is an eternity ring?

An eternity ring is a band set with a continuous line of diamonds, symbolising love with no beginning and no end.

The unbroken circle of stones is the whole meaning: a ring that sparkles from every angle and stands for forever. It's a popular choice as a wedding ring, an anniversary gift, or even an engagement ring, and it pairs beautifully alongside a solitaire. You can have it as a full eternity, with diamonds all the way around, or a half eternity, with stones across the top. Both look beautiful on the hand; the difference is practical as much as it is about budget.

The Key Decision

Full eternity or half eternity?

A full eternity has diamonds all the way around, so it sparkles from every angle and looks the same no matter how it spins. The trade-off is that it generally can't be resized later, because cutting the band breaks the stone setting, and stones on the underside can press against the finger.

A half eternity has diamonds across the top half only, with a plain band underneath. It still looks full of sparkle face-up, it's more comfortable, it costs less, and it can be resized. For an everyday ring most of my clients choose half eternity for exactly these reasons; a full eternity is the showstopper when size certainty isn't a worry.

More Diamonds, Same Budget

Why lab grown is ideal for an eternity ring

An eternity ring uses a lot of diamonds, not one centre stone but a whole band of matched stones. That's exactly where the mined-diamond markup hurts most, and exactly where lab grown saves the most.

With lab grown there's no mining premium on any of those stones, so a band full of diamonds costs far less than a mined eternity ring of the same look. It also makes it easy to get well-matched, eye-clean, near-colourless stones all the way along, so the line looks even and bright. Every stone is IGI or GIA certified.

Real Diamonds, Honest Advice

Are the diamonds in an eternity ring real?

Yes, completely. Every lab grown diamond I set is carbon crystallised the same way a mined diamond is, with the same hardness, brilliance, and chemical and optical properties. It is not cubic zirconia and it is not moissanite, which are different materials. The stones around your eternity ring are genuine diamonds, graded on the same 4Cs and certified by IGI or GIA.

I'm Suman Smith, founder of Lux Jewels. I started this as Canada's first lab grown diamond company back in 2015 because I was tired of watching people get misled and overpay. On an eternity ring the matching matters most, so I hand-select stones that agree on colour and size, so the line looks even and bright the whole way along. Every stone comes certified, so you're never taking my word for it.

Straight Talk

How much should you spend on an eternity ring?

There's no rule, and the right budget is what's comfortable for you. The big lever here is full versus half: a half eternity uses fewer diamonds, so it costs less and is the smart everyday choice. Choosing lab grown then stretches that budget a long way, since a band of stones carries no mined-diamond markup.

I don't believe in vague "starting from" numbers, because the carat size, stone count, and setting all move the price. Book a free consultation and you'll get a straight, itemised quote for the exact eternity ring you want, with no pressure to spend a dollar more than makes sense for you.

Eternity ring FAQs

What is the difference between a full and half eternity ring?

A full eternity has diamonds all the way around the band; a half eternity has them across the top half only. Half eternity is more comfortable, costs less, and can be resized, while full eternity sparkles from every angle but usually cannot be resized.

Can a full eternity ring be resized?

Generally no. Because the diamonds go all the way around, cutting the band to resize it breaks the setting. If you are unsure of the size or expect it to change, a half eternity is the safer choice since it can be resized.

Can you propose with an eternity ring?

Yes. Some couples choose an eternity ring as the engagement ring for its all-around sparkle and meaning. Just be sure of the finger size first, especially with a full eternity, since it cannot be easily resized later.

Why are lab grown diamonds better for an eternity ring?

An eternity ring uses a whole band of diamonds, so the mined-diamond markup adds up fast. With lab grown there is no mining premium, so a band full of certified diamonds costs far less, and it is easy to match the stones for an even, bright line.

Where can I buy an eternity ring in Canada?

Lux Jewels custom-designs lab grown diamond eternity rings for clients across Canada and the USA, by appointment and virtual consultation. As Canada's first lab grown diamond jeweller since 2015, we hand-select and certify every stone with IGI or GIA.
