A diamond's shape is its outline: round, oval, pear, emerald, cushion, marquise, princess, and more. Shape drives how big a stone looks, how it sparkles, and the price. Every shape is available as a lab grown diamond, a real certified diamond with no inflated mined-diamond markup. At Lux Jewels we custom-design any shape across Canada, IGI or GIA certified.

What is the difference between a diamond shape and a diamond cut?
Shape is the outline of the stone seen from above, like round, oval, or pear. Cut is how well the facets are arranged to return light, graded poor to excellent. People often say "cut" when they mean shape, since a "princess cut" is really a shape. Both matter: the shape sets the personality, and the cut quality sets the sparkle. Every shape we set is chosen for cut quality first, so it actually sparkles on the hand.

Explore →Which diamond shape looks the biggest?
Elongated shapes look the largest for their carat weight because they spread across the finger instead of hiding weight in depth. Oval, marquise, and pear top the list, often looking 10 to 15 percent larger than a round of the same carat. Round and princess hold more weight in the depth, so they look a touch smaller face-up. If maximising visible size is the goal, an elongated lab grown shape gives you the most ring for the money.
Which diamond shape is the most affordable?
Round brilliants cost the most per carat because cutting one wastes the most rough and demand is highest. Fancy shapes, anything that is not round, generally cost less for the same carat and quality. Emerald, cushion, and marquise are often the best value. Choosing lab grown on top of a fancy shape stacks two savings, which is why so many of our clients get a bigger, better stone than they expected.
How do you choose the right diamond shape?
Three things guide the choice: the hand, the style, and the budget. Longer shapes like oval and marquise flatter shorter fingers, while round and cushion suit almost everyone. Classic personalities lean round or cushion; bold or modern ones lean princess, emerald, or marquise. And because fancy shapes and lab grown both save money, your budget usually stretches further than you think. On a free call we show you several shapes at your carat and budget so you can see them side by side.

Are all diamond shapes available lab grown?
Yes. Every diamond shape is grown in a lab the same way, and each is a real diamond with the same hardness, brilliance, and 4Cs grading as mined, certified by IGI or GIA.

Which diamond shape looks biggest?
Elongated shapes, oval, marquise, and pear, look largest for their carat because they spread across the finger instead of hiding weight in depth.
Which diamond shape is the most affordable?
Fancy shapes (non-round) cost less per carat than round. Emerald, cushion, and marquise are often the best value, especially lab grown.
