A radiant cut lab grown diamond is a real diamond, certified on the same 4Cs, and it combines a square or rectangular outline with brilliant faceting, so it sparkles like a round but in a bolder shape. Its trimmed corners make it durable for everyday wear. At Lux Jewels we custom-design radiant cut rings across Canada and the USA, IGI or GIA certified, with no inflated mined-diamond markup, so your budget goes further on size, clarity, and the setting.

What is a radiant cut diamond?
A square or rectangular diamond with trimmed corners and brilliant faceting, the radiant cut gives you the sparkle of a round in a bold, modern outline.
The radiant was created to bridge two worlds: the clean geometric shape of an emerald cut and the fiery sparkle of a round brilliant. It has the cut corners of an emerald but the brilliant faceting of a round, so it throws a lot of light while keeping crisp, contemporary lines. It works as a near-square or as an elongated rectangle, which makes it one of the most flexible shapes I set. If you love sparkle but want something other than a round or a princess, the radiant is the answer.

Are radiant cut diamonds durable for everyday wear?
Yes, and this is one of the radiant's quiet advantages. Where a princess cut has four sharp 90-degree corners that can chip, the radiant has trimmed, angled corners that are far less likely to catch and break. That makes it one of the toughest fancy shapes for daily wear.
You still want the corners held by good prongs, but you don't have the same fragility to plan around. For someone active or hard on their hands who still wants a square look with lots of sparkle, I often steer them to a radiant for exactly this reason.
Are radiant cut diamonds good value?
They are. Like other fancy shapes, a radiant keeps more of the rough crystal than a round, so it usually costs less per carat. Its brilliant faceting also hides colour and small inclusions well, so you can choose a slightly lower colour or clarity grade and still get a stone that looks white and clean to the eye.
Stack that on lab grown, where there's no mined-diamond markup, and your budget stretches a long way. I'll help you spend it where it actually shows: cut quality first, then size, rather than paying for a grade you can't see.

Should you choose a square or rectangular radiant?
The radiant comes in two looks, set by the length-to-width ratio, and it's the biggest personality choice for the shape.
A balanced near-square radiant. Bold and modern.
A gently elongated radiant that flatters the finger.
A longer, more dramatic stone that lengthens the hand.
Near-colourless and eye-clean look excellent for less.
We'll show you a few ratios side by side on a free call so you can see the difference instead of guessing from a spec sheet.
Which settings work best with a radiant cut centre stone?

Radiant Halo
A ring of smaller diamonds frames the radiant and makes it look even larger.

Hidden Halo
A clean radiant from above that catches extra light from the side.

Three Stone
A radiant centre flanked by tapered baguettes for a striking look.
We also design radiant solitaires and pave bands. Every Lux Jewels ring is made for you.

Are radiant cut lab grown diamonds real diamonds?
Yes, completely. A lab grown diamond is carbon crystallised the same way a mined diamond is, with the same hardness, the same brilliance, and the same chemical and optical properties. It is not cubic zirconia and it is not moissanite, which are different materials entirely. A radiant cut lab grown diamond is a genuine diamond, graded on the same 4Cs of cut, colour, clarity, and carat, and certified by IGI or GIA.
I'm Suman Smith, founder of Lux Jewels. I started this as Canada's first lab grown diamond company back in 2015 because I was tired of watching people get misled and overpay for the wrong stone. I don't push you toward a sale. What I do is hand-select every radiant cut, check the corners and the sparkle in person, and set it so the light reflection is right and there are no dull undertones. Every stone comes with its certificate, so you're never taking my word for it.
How do you pick the right radiant cut?
You start with cut quality, because that's what makes a radiant come alive, then decide square or rectangular, then balance colour, clarity, and carat against your budget. Because a radiant hides colour and inclusions well, near-colourless G to H and eye-clean VS usually look excellent without paying for top grades.
I don't believe in vague "starting from" numbers, because there are too many variables. Book a free consultation and you'll get a straight, itemised quote for the exact radiant and setting you want, with no pressure to spend a dollar more than makes sense for you.

What is the difference between a radiant and a princess cut?
Both are brilliant-faceted square shapes, but a princess has sharp 90-degree corners while a radiant has trimmed, angled corners. That makes the radiant tougher and less likely to chip, and it also comes in rectangular ratios, where the princess is square.
Are radiant cut diamonds good value?
Yes. A radiant keeps more of the rough crystal than a round, so it costs less per carat, and its brilliant faceting hides colour and small inclusions well, so you can choose smart grades. With lab grown there is no mined-diamond markup on top.
Do radiant cut diamonds chip easily?
Less than a princess. The trimmed corners are far less fragile than sharp 90-degree corners, which makes the radiant one of the tougher fancy shapes for everyday wear. Good prongs still protect the corners.
Should I choose a square or rectangular radiant?
A near-square radiant (ratio around 1.00 to 1.05) looks bold and modern, while a rectangular one (1.20 and up) flatters and lengthens the finger. There is no wrong answer, so we show you a few side by side before you choose.
