A halo engagement ring surrounds the centre diamond with a circle of small diamonds, which makes the centre stone look larger and adds a lot of extra sparkle. A hidden halo does the same but tucks the small stones under the centre stone, so from above it looks clean while still catching light from the side. At Lux Jewels we custom-design halo and hidden halo rings with real, certified lab grown diamonds across Canada and the USA, IGI or GIA certified, with no inflated mined-diamond markup, so you get more visual size for your budget.

What is a halo engagement ring?
A halo ring circles the centre diamond with a ring of small diamonds, so the stone looks bigger and the whole ring sparkles more.
That circle of accent stones does two things: it frames the centre diamond so it reads larger than its actual carat, and it adds a lot of extra brilliance around it. A one carat centre stone in a halo can look closer to a one-and-a-half carat ring on the hand. It's one of the most popular styles for exactly that reason, and it works beautifully with any centre shape, round, oval, cushion, and more.

Halo or hidden halo?
A classic halo sits around the centre stone where you can see it from above, framing the diamond and maximising the look of size and sparkle. It's the bolder, more traditional choice.
A hidden halo tucks the ring of small diamonds underneath the centre stone, so from the top the ring looks like a clean solitaire, but it flashes extra light from the side and when you move your hand. It's the modern, subtle take, popular with people who want a sleek look up top with a hidden detail. Both add sparkle; it comes down to whether you want the halo on show or as a secret.
Why a halo is such good value
A halo makes a smaller centre diamond look significantly bigger, because the surrounding stones extend the sparkle and the visual footprint. That means you can choose a more modest centre stone and still get a ring with real presence, which keeps the budget in check.
Pair that with lab grown, where there's no mined-diamond markup on the centre stone or the halo, and you get the most visual size per dollar of almost any style. I match the small halo stones carefully to the centre so the whole ring looks bright and even.

Types of halo setting
The halo family has a few variations, each with a different feel.
One ring of diamonds around the centre. The classic.
Diamonds under the stone, clean from above, sparkle from the side.
Two rings of diamonds for maximum size and sparkle.
Round, oval, cushion, and more all suit a halo.

Are halo lab grown diamonds real diamonds?
Yes, completely. Every lab grown diamond I set, the centre stone and the halo stones, is carbon crystallised the same way a mined diamond is, with the same hardness, brilliance, and chemical and optical properties. It is not cubic zirconia and it is not moissanite, which are different materials. The centre diamond is graded on the same 4Cs and certified by IGI or GIA.
I'm Suman Smith, founder of Lux Jewels. I started this as Canada's first lab grown diamond company back in 2015 because I was tired of watching people get misled and overpay. On a halo the small stones have to match the centre so the ring looks even and bright, so I hand-select them with care. The centre stone comes with its certificate, so you're never taking my word for it.
How do you get the most from a halo ring?
The smart play is to let the halo do the size work and put your budget into a well-cut centre stone rather than a huge one. A beautifully cut one carat centre in a halo often looks better and bigger than a dull larger stone with no halo. For colour, near-colourless G to H keeps the centre and halo looking bright and white together.
I don't believe in vague "starting from" numbers, because the centre size, halo style, and band all move the price. Book a free consultation and you'll get a straight, itemised quote for the exact halo ring you want, with no pressure to spend a dollar more than makes sense for you.

Does a halo make the diamond look bigger?
Yes. The ring of small diamonds around the centre stone extends its sparkle and visual footprint, so the centre reads larger than its carat. A one carat centre in a halo can look close to a one-and-a-half carat ring on the hand.
What is a hidden halo?
A hidden halo tucks the ring of small diamonds under the centre stone instead of around it. From above the ring looks like a clean solitaire, but it flashes extra light from the side. It is the modern, subtle version of the halo.
Is a halo ring good value?
Yes. Because the halo makes a smaller centre stone look bigger, you can choose a more modest centre and still get a ring with real presence. With lab grown and no mined-diamond markup, it is one of the best styles for visual size per dollar.
What shapes work with a halo?
Almost any. Round and oval are the most popular halo centres, but cushion, pear, emerald, and others all suit a halo. We match the halo to your chosen shape so it frames the stone cleanly.
